Bournemouth businesswoman hoped Muslims had died

Nicky Hutt's Facebook postA businesswoman has been slammed as “racist” with a “heart like stone” over internet comments stating she hoped Muslims had died.

Outrage was sparked when a message appeared on Nicky Hutt’s Facebook account about the Lampedusa boat disaster near Italy, where around 200 immigrants drowned. It read: “News night tonight… Top headline. 200 Africans drown in boat disaster. What a shame, hopefully a few of them were Muslims.”

The message was seen by people including Mrs Hutt’s hair stylist Esra Turay Gunputh, who is a Muslim. Mrs Gunputh said: “These racist remarks are really upsetting. It’s wrong to have these extreme views.”

French cartoonist combines anti-union propaganda with Islamophobia

Plantu CGT cartoon

The Collectif contre l’Islamophobie en France draws our attention to the recent controversy over a cartoon published in Le Monde last week.

Drawn by the paper’s longtime cartoonist Plantu, the illustration refers to recent court judgements – backed by the French trade union organisation, the Confédération générale du travail – that a number of retail outlets including the home improvement store Castorama were operating illegally on Sunday.

A snarling Muslim is depicted as shouting “I forbid you to go to school” at a young girl, while a CGT representative shouts at a woman employee “I forbid you to go to work on Sunday”. It is difficult to say who this is more offensive to – Muslims or trade unionists.

EDL-supporting neo-Nazi ‘threatened to shoot and stab classmates’, ‘hated anyone who wasn’t white or Christian’ and wanted to join the Ku Klux Klan

A teenage neo-Nazi accused of plotting a “new Columbine” threatened to shoot one of his classmates in the head and stab another in the neck, the Old Bailey heard today.

The schoolboy allegedly brought a lock-knife to college and showed it to other students during an induction day. He also threatened to shoot one classmate in the head and stab another in the neck, the court was told.

The boy, who was 16 at the time of the alleged offences and is now 17, cannot be named because of his age.

He is standing trial accused of plotting a terrorist attack on his former school and the college where he was studying for his A-levels, as well as targets including Loughborough University, council offices and a cinema. He is also accused of having a terrorist manual and possessing parts for an improvised explosive.

The youth denies the charges. He and two other 17-year-old boys have already admitted possessing petrol bombs and pipe bombs. He has also pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon.

SDL ‘heavily outnumbered’ by UAF counter-demonstrators in Dundee

Dundee Together anti-SDL protest 2013

A major crowd control operation involving mounted police and almost 100 uniformed personnel was mobilised to deal with a demonstration by rival political groups in Dundee on Saturday.

The protest by the far right Scottish Defence League and counter demonstration by the Unite Against Fascism (UAF) alliance passed without any arrests thanks to strict segregation outside the City Churches.

The two groups – the SDL heavily outnumbered – confronted each other and traded chants but were kept apart by barriers and four mounted officers.

The SDL members, who were bussed into Dundee from as far as Sunderland, shouted their loathing for what they called militant Islam, but their message was drowned out by the UAF, who condemned their racial intolerance.

Fox & Friends Saturday criticized President Obama for offering to personally pay for a “museum of Muslim culture” during the government shutdown, a claim that originated from a satire website.

On October 5, the co-hosts of Fox & Friends Saturday discussed the closure of the World War II Memorial, which resulted from the Republican-led shutdown. During the discussion, co-host Anna Kooiman claimed that while the memorial is closed, “President Obama has offered to pay out of his own pocket for the museum of Muslim culture.”

James HirvisaariThe governing council of the opposition Finns Party voted unanimously to expel controversial MP James Hirvisaari following his admission that he took a photo of a friend posing in a Nazi salute at the Parliament – and later posted it online.
