Queensland parliamentary candidate in call to ‘eradicate mosques’

Anthony MackinIpswich Muslims have defended their faith in the wake of Rise Up Australia Party candidate Anthony Mackin’s calls to eradicate mosques and ban the burka.

Mr Mackin, a bible teacher, is the Blair candidate for a party that has banning the burka as one of its key policies. In an interview with The QT yesterday, Mr Mackin explained why he was opposed to burkas.

“Part of the problem is the obvious one, that you can’t identify who is underneath it,” he said. “I’ve seen recently on the internet that there have been suicide bombers disguising themselves in burkas.

“When we go into a petrol station the first thing a motorcyclist is asked to do is remove the helmet before the cashier will receive payment for the bill, for security purposes. Everybody is required to do this…but the people who are not assimilating to our laws and customs are not.”

Extra security on call for council planning meeting on Melbourne mosque

Police are set to be drafted into a controversial planning meeting next week as a council prepares to decide whether to give the go-ahead for a mosque to be built next door to a Christian church.

More than 1200 objections to the proposed mosque in Melbourne’s north have already been received and security guards will also be on hand at the meeting in a bid to keep the peace. Hume City Council is considering asking Victoria Police to send officers along over fears violence might break out between 1000 people who are expected to attend Monday’s planning meeting.

The council has received messages stating if the mosque gets planning approval there will be a “massacre”. Objections the council has received state that if the mosque is built it will lead to tension, violence and social disharmony in the area.

Australian parliamentary candidate says Islam is a ‘religion from hell’ and building mosques is ‘high treason’

Sherrilyn ChurchA candidate for the Prime Minister’s seat of Griffith has put outlawing the Islamic faith front and centre of her election campaign, branding it a “religion from hell” and claiming that building mosques in Australia is “high treason”.

Sherrilyn Church of the Rise Up Australia Party says her top policy priority in the election is to ban the building of mosques in the electorate, south of Brisbane.

Ms Church – a small-time citrus farmer from Crows Nest on the Darling Downs – said her primary concern for the electorate was “the Islamisation of the city by councils giving permission for mosques to be erected”.

“Basically, I see Islam not primarily a religion but a system of law because to the Islamic mind the existence of a mosque in an area means they believe that Sharia law applies and the Islamic flag must fly – now that is high treason in a sovereign nation,” she said.

Stephanie Banister: Australian Islam gaffe goes viral

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_1SFf8t-ko

An Australian election candidate has made the wrong kind of headlines after a gaffe-strewn interview in which she mistook Islam for a country.

Stephanie Banister, a candidate with the anti-immigration One Nation Party, clocked up multiple mistakes in a TV interview with Channel 7 News. The 27-year-old also confused the term “haram” (forbidden) with the Koran and suggested Jews worship Jesus Christ.

The interview, which aired early this week, has gone viral on social media. “I don’t oppose Islam as a country, umm, but I do feel that their laws should not be welcome here in Australia,” Ms Banister told Seven News reporter Erin Edwards.

One Nation founder backs anti-Islam candidate

Pauline_HansonThe Sunshine Coast One Nation candidate at the centre of a storm about Muslims and halal products has the support of party founder Pauline Hanson.

Mike Holt, the party’s candidate for Fairfax, described halal products, which are prepared in line with strict Muslim requirements, as helping to fund terrorism. He operates a website that sells stickers that read, “Beware! Halal food funds terrorists”, which have been found on Nestle products at a Brisbane supermarket.

“We are the only party standing up against the Muslin threat and this halal is part of that,” Mr Holt said yesterday. “They use these stealth methods to impose their religious culture on us.”

On Facebook, Ms Hanson said, “I support Mike”. “I am not Muslim and do not want to buy halal-prepared and blessed food, with an Islamic tax, in my Christian country,” she said.

One Nation candidate ‘behind anti-Muslim campaign’

Restore Australia halal stickerAn alleged food contamination scare involving one of Australia’s favourite foods has exposed a One Nation candidate’s anti-Muslim campaign.

A jar of Nestle coffee was found with its seal broken and a sticker saying “Beware! Halal food funds terrorists” in aisle four of Woolworths supermarket at Underwood, south of Brisbane, earlier this month. Two tins of Milo, also produced by Nestle, were found with the same stickers but the seals were not broken.

The supermarket immediately alerted Queensland Health and police which launched a joint investigation. Scientific tests by Queensland Health found that while the seal was broken there was nothing to indicate it had been deliberately damaged. The tests also found the coffee had not been contaminated. The police investigation culminated in the arrest of a 27-year-old Kingston woman who will front the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday charged with one count of product contamination.

A basic internet search of the stickers found on the Nestle products shows it can be purchased from Restore Australia whose CEO is Mike Holt, the One Nation Party’s candidate for the federal seat of Fairfax. Mr Holt, who co-founded the organisation and is based on the Sunshine Coast, said the website Restore Australia was a non-political organisation wanting to restore power to the people.

Australia: Local councils to implement Sharia law?

On 14 September Australians will vote in a referendum on whether local government should be formally recognised in the federal constitution. In the Sunday Mail Terry Sweetman reports that some opponents of the proposed constitutional amendment are claiming that a “yes” vote will end in Sharia law.

“By Local Government areas being recognised, Sharia law can then be demanded in the local area, based on the percentage of Muslim people in that local area,” they declare. Apparently this is “exactly how the Muslims petitioned Sharia law to be recognised in the United Kingdom”.
