‘Oriana Fallaci has enrolled in the Society of Jesus’

“… the Islamization of the West is neither a phantasm nor merely something feared: it is an intention and a fact that emerges from an objective examination of the evidence. Moderate Islam, properly so called, does not exist because there is no institutional and moderate form of Islamic theology. There are moderate Muslims, and some of them see things with a clear and long-term perspective. But Islam itself, or rather the institutional religious culture of the Muslims, has reacted in its encounter with modernity by entrenching itself in fundamentalist positions….

“There is, therefore, an objective convergence between the trend in Islamic theology and the ideology of the terrorists…. This is why it would not only be prudent, as cardinal Giacomo Biffi has suggested, to discourage Islamic immigration in Europe, it would be masochistic to encourage it without demanding reciprocation in terms of integration. Islam is not compatible with liberal democracies…. Unfortunately, open and liberal society becomes paralyzed when it encounters a closed and incompatible civilization…. in Islam, there is no foundation for tolerance in the broad sense that characterizes our secular societies.”

Two Jesuits assess Islam in a recent issue of the Italian Catholic journal Studium. Sandro Magister suggests that this is part of a shift (see for example here) towards a more aggressive approach to Islam on the part of the Vatican under Pope Benedict XVI.

Neo-Nazis threaten to massacre Muslims at World Cup

The World Cup in Germany is set to become a battleground between facists and Muslims, an Italian member of a new European neo-Nazi movement warned. In a statement published by Italian daily Repubblica, the member of AS Roma’s notorious ultras hooligan group claims neo-Nazis across Europe met in Braunau in Austria to plan attacks against supporters from Islamic countries during the World Cup in Germany from June 9 to July 9.

“We are united. For the first time we are talking and planning together, with the English, the Germans, the Dutch, the Spanish, everyone with the same objective. At the World Cup there will be a massacre,” said the Italian ultra. “We will all be in Germany and there will be Turks, Algerians and Tunisians. The Turks, we can’t stand them. In our country (Italy) there are not many, but in Germany, there are many of those guys there. They are Islamic terrorists. We will attack them. They are all enemies that need to be eliminated….”

Oriana Fallaci: Muslim takeover of Europe was planned by Palestinians

Oriana FallaciOriana Fallaci claims that when she interviewed George Habash in 1972 he let slip the Muslim grand strategy of conquering Europe by breeding.

At first she thought the leading Palestinian politician was just talking about terrorism but now she realises that he “also meant the cultural war, the demographic war, the religious war waged by stealing a country from its citizens … In short, the war waged through immigration, fertility, presumed pluriculturalism.”

This of course fits in with her statement that Muslims have “multiplied like rats” in Europe.

If only she’d spotted it then, she could have told, and presumably saved, the world.

And of course the dear old lady is “stricken with cancer and has been hounded by death threats and charges of ‘Islamophobia'”.

We’re genuinely regretful about her medical condition; the longer Oriana Fallaci is on this earth spouting her foul racist poison, the more the true motivations of the Islamophobes are exposed.

Is Muslim immigration to Europe a conspiracy?

“In The Force of Reason, the controversial Italian journalist and novelist Oriana Fallaci illuminates one of the central enigmas of our time. How did Europe become home to an estimated 20 million Muslims in a mere three decades?”

Vatican accused of helping Islamic radicals

The Vatican has disconcerted Italian politicians – and some of the Roman Catholic church’s most senior prelates – by endorsing a proposal by radical Muslims for a weekly “Islamic hour” in schools with a strong Muslim presence. “If in a school there are 100 Muslim children, I don’t see why their religion shouldn’t be taught,” said Cardinal Renato Martino, a minister in the Vatican’s government, the Roman Curia.

The speaker of the Italian senate, Marcello Pera, who has launched a movement for the defence of Europe’s Christian values, said the suggestion was “the diametric opposite of any kind of attempt at integration”. In a note posted on the internet, he said it “tended, on the contrary, t11o reinforce the idea of an autonomous Muslim community inside the Italian state”.

Italy minister stirs cartoon row

An Italian government minister says he is distributing T-shirts displaying controversial cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad. Roberto Calderoli, a member of the anti-immigrant Northern League party, is minister without portfolio for institutional reform and devolution.

Mr Calderoli’s comments were made in an interview with the leading Italian news agency, Ansa. The minister is quoted as saying: “I’ve had T-shirts made with the cartoons that have upset Islam and I shall start wearing them today.” He added that it was “time to put an end to this story that we need to dialogue with these people”, and asked: “What have we become, the civilisation of melted butter?”

Italy’s Northern League, of which Mr Calderoli is a leading member, is expected to get about 6% of the vote in the forthcoming general election. Their anti-immigrant election platform has gained them support in the industrial north of the country where the League accuses immigrants of stealing jobs from Italians and being responsible for growing crime rates.

Vatican warns Italian women against Muslim marriages

Vatican cardinals have warned Italian women against tying the knot with the rising numbers of Muslims in Italy, citing what they say cultural and religious diversities.

Church officials say that Italy has seen 20,000 marriages in 2005 between Catholic women and Muslims, whose population touches the one million mark, the BBC News Online reported Monday, December 26.

Cardinal Camillo Ruini, the Vicar General of Rome, had said that cultural differences over issues such as the role of women and education of children make it difficult for Catholic women to marry Muslims. “The experience of recent years leads us as a general rule to advise against or in any case to discourage these marriages,” he wrote in a document released last month.

“Mixed Catholic and Muslim couples who intend to have a family have other difficulties above and beyond those experienced by other couples, when one considers cultural and religious diversity,” wrote cardinal Ruini, a conservative thinker close to late Pope John Paul II.

Catholics should not marry Muslims, say Italian bishops

Ruini with PopeItalian bishops gave warning yesterday against Catholics marrying Muslims, citing cultural differences and fears that children born to mixed marriages would shun Christianity. Cardinal Camillo Ruini, the president of the Italian Bishops Conference, said: “In addition to the problems that any couple encounters when forming a family, Catholics and Muslims have to reckon with the difficulties that inevitably arise from deep cultural differences.”

Cardinal Ruini, one of the right-hand men of Pope Benedict XVI, said that it was often the woman who married a Muslim man and it was she who converted to Islam. In a statement, the bishops said that if an Italian woman married a Muslim immigrant and then settled in his country of origin, her rights were “not guaranteed in the way they are in Italy or in other Western nations”. In addition the children of mixed marriages tended to be brought up as Muslims and not as Catholics. Such marriages should, therefore, be discouraged.

Fallaci rails against Muslim immigration

Fallaci in NYOriana Fallaci told a Manhattan audience on Monday that she hates Islam and fears that Muslim immigration poses a greater danger to the West than Islamic terrorism.

The Italian journalist and author, who came out of retirement after September 11, 2001, to sound the tocsin on what she viewed was a clash of civilizations, said in a lengthy speech that she doesn’t believe in the existence of moderate Islam. “There is no such thing as good Islam,” she said.

She compared the Koran, the Islamic holy book, to Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and said she opposed the notion of dialogue between followers of Islam and other religions.

New York Sun, 30 November 2005

Even Daniel Pipes thought Fallaci’s speech was a teensy bit over the top. Not so Robert Spencer, who wholeheartedly endorsed this racist diatribe: “Fallaci’s a voice of rare courage…. When she is gone, we may hope – for all our sakes – that many others will be ready to step into the breach and speak the truth as she did, whatever the cost, as she did. As Oriana Fallaci so memorably demonstrated in her address on receiving the Annie Taylor Award, nothing less than our civilization itself is at stake.”

Anti-Muslim racist receives award

Oriana FallaciItalian racist Oriana Fallaci has received an award for her “lifelong struggle against totalitarian ideologies”, FrontPage Magazine reports.

At a dinner in New York, ex-leftist David Horowitz gave a speech paying tribute to Fallaci’s contribution to “the war against Islamofascism” and acclaiming her as “a warrior in the cause of human freedom”.

Yes, that’s the same Oriana Fallaci who complained that Muslims in the West had “multiplied like rats”, turning Europe into “an Islamic province, an Islamic colony”, and who declared that “to believe that a good Islam and a bad Islam exist goes against all reason”.
