Boris Johnson calls for the ‘re-Britannification of Britain’

Boris Johnson blames the London bombings on the development of a multicultural society “in which too many Britons have absolutely no sense of allegiance to this country or its institutions. It is a cultural calamity that will take decades to reverse, and we must begin now with what I call the re-Britannification of Britain.

“That means insisting … on certain values that we identify as British. If that means the end of spouting hate in mosques, and treating women as second-class citizens, then so be it. We need to acculturate the second-generation Muslim communities to our way of life, and end the obvious alienation that they feel.

“That means the imams will have to change their tune, and it is no use the Muslim Council of Great Britain endlessly saying that ‘the problem is not Islam’, when it is blindingly obvious that in far too many mosques you can find sermons of hate, and literature glorifying 9/11 and vilifying Jews. We have reached a turning-point in the relations between the Muslim community and the rest of us, and it is time for the moderates to show real leadership.”

‘Multiculturalism: dishonest and deadly’

“The news that the London terrorist attacks were carried out by second-generation Muslim immigrants should not surprise us. For years now we in the West have indulged a whole set of destructive ideas whose bitter fruit we will all continue to harvest, as more and more unassimilated and disaffected immigrant children turn against the countries that welcomed their parents and provided them with a prosperity and freedom unknown in their countries of origin. This baneful idea goes by the name of multiculturalism.”

Multiculturalism, Islam and the destruction of Western civilisation

“Only one faith on earth may be more messianic than Islam: multiculturalism. Without it – without its fanatics who believe all civilizations are the same – the engine that projects Islam into the unprotected heart of Western civilization would stall and fail. It’s as simple as that.” So right-wing US commentator Diana West claims.

As a result of the efforts of these multiculturalists, with their “masochistic brand of tolerance”, we “prevent ourselves from looking full face at the danger to our way of life posed by Islam. Notice I didn’t say ‘Islamists’. Or ‘Islamofascists’. Or ‘fundamentalist extremists’. I’ve tried out such terms in the past, but I’ve come to find them artificial and confusing, and maybe purposefully so, because in their imprecision I think they allow us all to give a wide berth to a great problem: the gross incompatibility of Islam – the religious force that shrinks freedom even as it ‘moderately’ enables, or ‘extremistly’ advances jihad – with the West. Am I right? Who’s to say? The very topic of Islamization – for that is what is at hand, and very soon in Europe – is verboten.”

Multiculturalism under attack

“British politicians are not only having to review domestic security. They are being forced to think again about the mix of liberal policies pursued by successive governments since the 1960s – collectively known as multi-culturalism. Multiculturalism was designed to bring different communities together, but its critics argue it has only served to keep them apart.”

Daily Mail attacks multiculturalism and Tariq Ramadan, applauds Irshad Manji

“The foreign media are awash with references to ‘Londonistan’, describing how this country has become a safe haven for Islamic extremists – ‘a crossroads for terror’ according to the New York Times. They also voice incredulity that the malign impact of multiculturalism and political correctness has for years seen Britain segregated into inward-looking communities that eschew British values while the forces of law and order walk on eggshells, desperate not to offend.

“The Americans have a point. As extremist clerics preach a gospel of hate, we wring our hands but do nothing. Should we then be surprised when impressionable young men heed their words and act, with horrific results?

“Far from silencing the extremists, we welcome them. Tariq Ramadan, an Egyptian academic who has justified acts of terrorism is coming to this country – invited by the Metropolitan Police! It’s beyond parody. This is the same force whose Deputy Assistant Commissioner Brian Paddick said after the bombs: ‘As far as I’m concerned Islamic and terrorist are two words that do not go together.’…

“The author Irshad Manji wrote wisely this week that moderate Muslims must condemn terrorism, abandon the ‘myth’ that Islam has nothing to do with the atrocities, and reject Islamic infallibility.”

The wages of multiculturalism

“Yesterday’s bombers are still unknown, but their enablers on the Left are standing right in front of our eyes. It was Mayor Livingstone who openly praised and defended Islamofascist Sheikh Al Qaradawi as ‘a man of peace’. The radical Left imposed multiculturalism on Britain, which is of course left-wing political monoculturalism. Leftists in the educational system drilled generations of children to loathe their own political culture as morally inferior to the bloodiest tyrannies in the world. The Left has blocked any sensible British immigration reform, so that it became impossible to deport the most dangerous terrorists in the world.”

A rant from one James Lewis, which also contains the revelation that “it was Red Ken who scapegoated the half-Jewish leader of the Conservative Party in the recent election, in order to appeal to radical Muslims in London”. Must have missed that one.

London Muslims fear backlash after bombs

Thousands of Muslims crowded London mosques for Friday prayers, condemning the bombings, but also wary they could be made scapegoats and fearful of reprisals against their growing and vibrant community.

At the East London Mosque, near the site of one of Thursday’s attacks, an imam told the 8,000 worshippers to be “confident in our identity” as part of London’s multicultural fabric.

The mosque said it had received hate e-mails and a telephone threat to disrupt Friday prayers. A few police officers stood outside during the prayers, which ended peacefully.

Outside, some Muslims said the attacks had made them more cautious on the streets, but others said they were secure in their identity as Londoners _ confident of the city’s tolerant traditions.

“It will have some impact on people. But this is London, a cosmopolitan city,” said student Ali Ayubi. “Maybe after one or two months it will go back to normal.”

Daily Mail accuses Ian Blair of undermining counter-terrorism by opposing Islamophobia

Even more alarmingly, the country’s principal police force involved in counterterrorism is now under the control of an officer whose obsession with the “diversity” agenda is thought to be undermining the fight against terror.

The oppressive side of this philosophy surfaced recently when Sir Ian Blair, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, was rebuked by an employment tribunal for “hanging his own officers out to dry” to prove his anti-racist credentials.

This was after his force was found to have racially discriminated against three white officers who were disciplined after alleged racist remarks at a training day, in which one of them had referred to Muslim headgear as “tea cosies”, mispronounced Shi’ites as “shitties” and said he felt sorry for Muslims who fasted during Ramadan.

Yet following this institutional bullying over Islamophobia, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Brian Paddick yesterday made the astonishing comment: “As far as I am concerned Islam and terrorists are two words that do not go together.” So what, then, does he think Al Qaeda is?

While few would disagree that the Met has to be sensitive to the needs of ethnic minorities, Sir Ian’s obsession with attacking “Islamophobia” is now raising serious concerns among certain police officers and security sources.

It is getting in the way of the job the police are called upon to do. Officers who try to address the delicate issue of terrorism and its supporters within the Muslim community now find themselves in danger of being accused within their own force of Islamophobia.

FA rules Religious Observance to extend to all faiths

The English Football Association (FA) congratulated itself this month for finally accepting that its rule on Religious Observance in amateur leagues should be extended to religions other than Christianity.

For the first time, the FA acknowledged that just as amateur Christian players are not obliged to play on Good Friday or Christmas day, their Muslim counterparts should be afforded the same rights without fear of reprimand. The success was effectively due to The Muslim News campaign to correct this blatant discrepancy.

Embarrassingly, it took the case of Abram Moss Warriors and the highlighting of the rationale by The Muslim News for the FA to concede that its diversity policy was alarmingly outdated, having failed to take into account England’s growing Muslim population.

In 2003, the Manchester-based team, made up of mostly 12-year-old Muslims, were penalised with a £250 fine and excluded from their local cup for merely requesting the rescheduling of the kick-off time for a game during Ramadan that year. The Warriors’ appeal to Lancashire FA was rejected and met with patronising advice on the appropriate age for fasting.
