Norwegian government ditches police hijab plan

Justice Minister Knut Storberget has decided to withdraw the proposal to permit Muslim women to wear hijab with the Norwegian police uniform. This follows increasing protests fromthe political opposition as well as from within the three government coalition parties and also the police.

Making the announcement at a press conference, Storberget said he had decided to stop the process, after his department had earlier announced that it had accepted a proposal from the Police Directorate to allow the hijab, in what they said was a move as part of a desire to secure broad recruitment to the police.

Norwegian policeThe Police Directorate has decided that it will be permitted to wear hijab with the Norwegian police uniform.

Police Director Ingelin Killengreen says the move is part of a desire to secure broad recruitment. Killengren points to the fact that among new immigrants there is a large number of women who for religious reasons wear hijab.

“By refusing to allow these to wear their headdress, we would in reality exclude in particular these groups from serving in the police force,” the Police Director says.

“The police depend on trust to create security and prevent and fight crime. It is therefore important that all parts of our society should feel equal in their relations with the police,” she says.

The head of the Policemen’s Union. Arne Johannessen, is surprised and disappointed by the decision: “We have police force which is supposed to symbolize neutrality while in uniform,” Johanessen says.

In Germany this expresses itself through blood-based citizenship and a Leitkultur(dominant culture) and in France through citizenship by birth and earth and by laïcité (secularism). “One expects the extreme right to embrace such notions, but the report finds centre-left parties also using these racist sentiments to strategise. They may be liberal about immigration but, when it comes to Muslims, they fall prey to an Islamophobia that is ‘nourished by a mixture of feminism and secularism’.”

As the number of Muslims in Europe grows, and as the proportion of those Muslims who were born and bred in Europe also grows, many Muslim men are more inclined to see Europe as a part of the umma (or Muslim world), to believe that they have the right and duty to enforce sharia law in the cities where they live, and to recognize that any aggression on their part will likely go unpunished…. Multiculturalists can’t face all this. So it is that even when there are brutal gay-bashings, few journalists write about them; of those who do, few mention that the perpetrators are Muslims….

Oslo mosque boosts security after pig’s head and a Nazi flag left inside entrance

The World Islamic Mission’s mosque in Oslo has boosted security measures after somone left a pig’s head and a Nazi flag inside the mosque’s entrance during Friday prayer services.

“It’s clear that someone has done this to provoke us,” the chairman of World Islamic Mission, Jehangir Bahadur, told newspaper Aften on Monday. He called the act “offensive” and “a clear threat” against the mosque. “Pork is strictly forbidden in Islam, and that makes the incident very serious,” he said.

Bahadur said the mosque has also received racist e-mail that it hadn’t been taking very seriously, but that’s changed now. World Islamic Officials reported the unwelcome delivery of the pig’s head and Nazi flag, which occurred just before Christmas, to Oslo police.

Tom Gulliksen of the Grønland Police Station, nearest the mosque, said a police investigation was suspended for lack of evidence, but it will be taken up again if new leads emerge. A surveillance camera picked up an image of the person making the delivery, but it was too grainy to reveal any identity.

Both the flag and the pig’s head were sent to the police crime lab. Since Nazi items were involved, Norway’s criminal intelligence unit PST was notified as well. “I think that the person who did this is either unbalanced, or was mounting a PR stunt,” Gulliksen said.

Pig tactics threatened

DemokrateneNorwegian anti-immigration politicians in Bergen have promised to chase off Muslims with pigs feet and squealing noises if Bergen’s central square is used for prayers.

The leader of the Demokratene, an extreme populist party formed by outcasts of the populist Progress Party, Vidar Kleppe, said Wednesday that he backed the remarks of city council representative Kenneth Rasmussen.

Rasmussen reacted with threats of porcine tactics after Labour Party politician Jerad Abdelmajid said that the city’s Muslims could take their Friday prayers in Torgallmenningen, Bergen’s central square, when they will be without a mosque from March 31. Building of a new mosque is behind schedule.

“I completely agree with Kenneth Rasmussen that Muslims having their Friday prayers with their butts in the air in the city center is no solution. They can find other places,” Kleppe told news agency NTB.

Kenneth Rasmussen told newspaper Dagbladet‘s web site that Bergen residents should hang up pig’s feet and play pig squeals over loudspeakers to scare off Muslims, and claimed these tactics worked when he was a soldier for the United Nations in Somalia and Lebanon in the 1990s.

Rise in rape charges? Blame it on Muslims

“There has been an explosive increase in the number of rape charges in the city of Oslo, but both the media and the authorities consistently refuse to tell us why. They did do so, however, in 2001, when two out of Norway’s three largest newspapers, Aftenposten and Dagbladet, reported that most of these rape charges involve an immigrant perp, which again mostly means Muslims…. The reported number of rapes in Oslo is now six – 6! – times as high per capita as in New York City, yet the media keeps warning against Islamophobia.”

Protest niqab ban in Norway

Last month, the Directorate for Primary and Secondary Education of Norway gave permission for the niqab (which covers the whole face except the eyes) to be banned in schools. This law denies Muslim girls many fundamental rights including the freedom to practice one?s religion and the right to education.

Erling Lae, the leader of Oslo City Council, has decided to remove the veil in schools because it causes problems for teachers who cannot see their students’ faces. The ruling will now make it possible for the niqab to be banned from schools in other municipalities in Norway. The Oslo city councillor for schools and education has said that the niqab makes communication impossible between teachers and students and between students as well.

However, under Article 9 of the European Convention of Human Rights, everyone has the right to freedom of religion unless it is in the interest of public safety and health. It is clear that wearing the niqab in classrooms does not pose any threats to other students and teachers. Furthermore, in some schools of thought within Islam, wearing a niqab is obligatory and so a ban is clearly an infringement on religious freedom.

France, and parts of Germany and Belgium have already prohibited the wearing of the headscarf in schools and unless effective action is taken, the ban will spread throughout the whole of Europe.

Please contact your political representative, the Foreign Minister of your country and the Norwegian Embassy in your respective countries to condemn the law.

The Muslim-Leftist alliance

“Perhaps the greatest idea of the Leftist parties after the Cold War was to re-invent themselves as Multicultural immigration parties and start importing voters from abroad. In addition to this, they have managed to denounce the opposition as racists, bigots and extremists. A new alliance of convenience between Leftists and Muslim immigrants is taking shape in Europe. I think the deal is that the Leftist parties get a number of new clients, I mean voters, in return for giving Muslims privileges and subsidies, as well as keeping the borders more or less open for new Muslims to enter.”

‘When Danes pay Danegeld – dealing with Islam in Scandinavia’

“One thousand years ago Scandinavians were the barbarians of Europe, spreading fear and extracting ‘Danegeld’ from their more civilized neighbors. In the 21st century Scandinavians are peaceful and soft-spoken, and the roles seem to have been reversed with certain newly arrived immigrants. There are claims that immigration costs Sweden 40 to 50 billion Swedish kroner every year, perhaps even several hundred billions, and has greatly contributed to bringing the Swedish welfare state to the brink of bankruptcy.

“In Denmark right-wing politicians are already debating the threat of immigrant ‘welfare tourists’, should the Swedish system collapse. In Norway almost half of all children with a non-Western background claim social security benefits. This is ten times the rate of the native population. A Danish commission concluded that Denmark could save 50 billion kroner every year by 2040 if it shut the door to third world immigration. At the same time, statistics indicate that Scandinavians will become a minority in their own countries within a couple of generations, if the current trends continue. While their political elites insist that immigration is ‘good for the economy’, Scandinavians are in reality funding their own colonization.

“Although the cost of welfare is significant, it pales in comparison to the price paid through rapidly declining social harmony and increasing insecurity caused by Muslim immigration. Some of the increase in insecurity is due to the rise of mafia groups and organized crime, but most is mainly due to terror threats and intimidation of critics of Islam and Muslim immigration.”
