Nine men accused of rioting during a 2,000-strong English Defence League demonstration in Birmingham city centre have appeared in court.
They are accused of committing violent disorder at the demonstration in Centenary Square on July 20 last year.
The nine are: Adam Beebee, 27, of Boundary Road, Erdington; James Cocks, 34, of Binton Close Redditch; Allan Fisher-Cribb, 19, of Wheeler Street, Newtown; Jake Hill, 21, of Mill Street, Brierley Hill, Dudley; Lloyd Lewis, 22, of Cooks Close, Atherstone; Mark Morgan, 24, of Wedgwood Street, Wolstanton, Newcastle-under-Lyme; Joshua Norrey, 22, of Priors Way, Erdington; Joel Smith, 23, of Lupton Road, Sheffield; and Shane Williams, 26, of Dragons Lane, Leicester.
None of the nine, who all appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, have entered a plea. All the cases were sent to Birmingham Crown Count for a preliminary hearing on March 13.
Nine more men appeared before magistrates court on Tuesday, also charged with violent disorder at the EDL demonstration. They will all appear at Birmingham Crown Court on March 12.
